Living in America affords us the opportunity to try different cuisines from all over the world due in part to immigrants who helped build America what it is. They needed to eat and making their own food was their version of comfort food.
I love my Pan Asian food but every once in awhile I love to try other foods like crispy tasty fried Chicken or chicken a waffles, Portugese food, Greek food. Polish food, Hungarian food, and good Jewish food. A good kosher hot dog, nice pastrami sandwich with lots of fat. The same goes for people that want to try Chinese food. I will be forming a restaurant eating club for foodies interested in trying authentic ethnic food. I reside in Maryland and will check on real ethnic restaurants and if you know of any, let me know and you'll "EAT FREE". Everyone will share evenly in the cost of each meal "FAMILY STYLE" (Stay tune for details) It's my responsibility as Chef Woo Can to inform my fellow foodies of some medicinal anecdotes that you my not heard of to reduce inflammation of your joints and muscles. As we get older, we we try to change our eating habits but some can't. Those who can't and I'm sure you know who you are will experience inflammation of the joints called arthritis. It' the inflammation that causes the stiffness and pain. So what do we do, we grab that bottle of Advil or Alleve to reduce pain and swelling.
Chef Woo Can recommends a more natural way to reduce inflammation, but first, you need to really try to cut down on the following: -Sugar: avoid "added" sugar, high fructose corn syrup, soda including diet, white bread, white pasta, cakes -Prepackaged foods that say "low salt" It will be tough but do it gradually since the body will go into withdrawals, then wait a week to allow your body to purify itself. Then do this: -Drink water everyday -Eat fresh fruits -Start eating Greek yogurt with fruit preserve it you need to. Plain is better with a little honey or incorporate yogurt in your cooking sauces. -Start eating avocado, like guacamole and some onion and tomatoes or have slices in your sandwich or a spread on wheat toast. -Add tumeric to your dishes. This is used mainly for all natural yellow/orange color but also provides relief for aches and pains. For anyone that has joint pain, try a cup of plain yogurt with a little fruit and wait a fe minutes and you'll see a big difference. No joint inflammation. versus, drink soda and you'll feel stiffness in your joints. So remember, YOGURT, TUMERIC and AVOCADO are NATURAL INFLAMMATION BUSTERS When buying fresh garlic, do not purchase any garlic from CHINA. They are contaminated beyond belief. Pesticides banned in USA are used to cultivate them, Soil is contaminated due to excessive industrial production throughout the country, all sorts of unethical practices are used to produce volumes and volumes of garlic.
I tried to contact Spice World Inc on the web www.spiceworldinc and their site is temporarily down? I tried www.spiceworld.com and the same response. Be careful when buying bottled garlic, as it may contain garlic from China. I found out that Whole Foods sells USA garlic. HOW TO TELL IF YOU HAVE AMERICAN GARLIC: -Heavier -Taste more robust -Roots and stems are showing Be weary when going to food establishment, they need to cut cost so who knows what type of garlic their using. Garlic from China is so much cheaper. We are developing a petition to notify Gilroy Ca, the garlic capital of the USA at one time to let them know there is a opportunity to do a market blitz notifying Americans to buy garlic from Gilroy, CA The ailments associated with contamination can take different forms, so we do have a choice to discontinue use of garlic from China. Let us know if your interested in signing our petition by emailing us at [email protected]. Ok I have to admit when they first opened their doors, it was a complete nightmare. Waitresses were trained properly, kitchen staff was in disarray, impatient customers was catastrophic. OK, its been sometime now and the dust has settle.
Was there the other day, waitress was pleasantly robotic. I mean it wasn't a busy weekend night Cleanliness was very good and the menu was easy to read but may have been a little too crowded in terms of selection. Lots of varieties of beer. The hamburgers were delicious and I have o say the fish and chips were delicious too. Good value.. Overall, most important the bathroom was clean which is always a reflection of management. For those that had a negative experience, I would definitely give them a second chance. The restaurant used to be "Joes Crab Shack" in Abingdon, opposite Wegman's. Rating: 8: Management may need to assist waitresses on art of "Customer is why they are in business" Aaah, if there was ever a great seafood restaurant, I have to say its Fallston Seafood. From the outside it looks like any other restaurant with a big sign. I love to explore different restaurants because you never know what to expect. Once you walk in your greeted immediately by a hostess with a cordial greeting and a smile. This is a great sign because it made me feel special and they were glad I came in for a nice meal.
The inside of the dining room is nicely decorated yet quaint. I sat down with my family and we waned to try the crabs. Now ordering crabs is a little tricky. Males are the favorite among Marylanders. Their large and have alot of meat. But what we wanted to see is the type of coating used. Some places use 100% Old Bay, very spicy and salty, but Fallston Seafood is a combination of light mild spicy. We love t. The host does ask if we would love crabs or a regular dinner. I said we'd love crabs and out comes the paper lining the table with a bucket, towels and knives. I wanted to start with an appetizers, so I looked at the menu, lots of great stuff, I ordered the clams casino and crab imperial. Clams casino are top neck clams with a little butter and white wine with bacon and melted cheese and baked with a thin layer of bread crumbs. Crab Imperial is jumbo lump crab meat with a creamy base and baked. Yummy! Oh, need to try the cream of crab. Can't be too thick or to runny. They make it with hint of old bay and cream an not to much thickener. Just right. Now for any seafood restaurant to be successful, they need to offer other items and Fallston Seafood does. Pizza, hamburgers and chicken dishes offset the cost of seafood. I haven't tried those items yet but when I see pizza going out the door, it must be good. Service is great and very attentive, always smiling and very accommodating. I highly recommend this place. Rating: 10 (Excellent) P>S: You may be asking yourself, all my reviews are excellent, when will he give a poor rating? Response: Why should I waste my time, if they cut corners, then why would it be worth it for me other than etting an upset stomach and be totally miserable. Now, my taste buds are always looking for different food. I love Indian and have been going to the Sizzling Bombay whenever I can. Nice atmosphere, excellent service and most importantly delicious food. My favorite is Lamb Korma, it s a nutty almond flavored cream curry with nice chunks of lamb. Yep the lamb is fresh and delicious. The other dish is similar to Saag Paneer (Indian cheese with spiced spinanch), delicious all with fresh garlic naan, the best and a side of basmatic rice. Yum. The Samosa for appetizer is great and you can either have it vegetarian or with meat.
Looking for a different drink, try the Mango Latsa, its delicious. On Saturday nights they have LIVE a Belly dancer who shakes her tight belly at all that look. During the week, if your tired of the sandwich or burger for lunch, try their buffet. its simply fabulous. Everything is fresh and if your a vegetarian, you'll love a different flavor combination. No cutting corners at this place Instead of offering bread, they offer a crispy thin wafer that fried quickly and offer 3 sauces; tamarind (Sweet & Sourish), Mint and spiced onions. superb, The waitresses and waiters are professional and very helpful and always pleasant. Highly recommended Rating: 10 (Excellent) www.chefwoocanmaryland.com Located on the corner of Ady Rd and Conowingo Rd, Bel Air, MD they have in my estimation the best pizza I've ever had. It comes pretty close to NYC pizza. The pizza is thin crust, real mozzarella and if you order sausage, there are real slices of sausage. Just order a large and then ask for a coupon card to be punched. Fill the card up and you get a free one. The offer hot and cold subs, the salad is very good, truly a family run business. Small establishment but you can eat there. There is a TV and the owners are friendly and very accommodating. The veggies are grown fresh. Excellent.
Give them a call and you'll fall in love with their pizza Rating: 10 (Excellent) chefwoocanmaryland.com There definitely is a difference. A far majority of American restaurants including fast food, fast food family and establishments microwave most of their food to get it bubbling hot and cut cooking time in half The remainder of other American products are fried and heavenly seasoned. But the sad thing is these establishments are at the mercy of suppliers who receive the latest technological concoctions. Case in point, a supplier delivers tomato sauce for Italian inspired dishes and pizza to all the Italian restaurant and pizza chains. They all taste the same and the only difference is what toppings they put on the food that may change the taste slightly.
Wouldn't it be nice to have fresh Italian garlic bread with real butter and fresh garlic and a little olive oil for dipping? We've been so trained to accept Domino's & Papa John's pizza. Don't get me wrong, their good in terms of availability but still a product of standardization. I ordered a pizza with friends that was a non franchised business. The crust was crunchy and the cheese was really Mozzarella and lots of oil floating on top with slices of real sausage. it was delicious but I was told it was too oily. I said the oil is where all the taste is> I got blank stares. They still wanted a napkin to absorb the oil? Asian food for the most part is all fresh except for some fried items but generally fresh. Why? Asian people (and its cultural) love only fresh food. Freshness is key. They shop everyday to buy fresh produce. But when they eventually eat, they are all so happy. It's appetizing, aromatic and visually appealing. No preservatives or additives because the food is all fresh. Looking for a gift for that special someone that has everything? Chef Woo Can You Can Too will be offering a package of various sauces. at www.chefwoocan.com
First and foremost , you gotta love food if your going into the food business. You have to respect the craft that your going to embark on. It will require hard work and a positive attitude. You must be different from everyone else. It's called LOVE.
When you prepare a meal, its made from scratch, ok it might be a little more expensive but you know what, the customers know good food when they taste it. What's obvious is there is no substitute for the real thing. What I mean, I'd rather pay a little bit more for grass fed beef than the other. Yes, it will be more expensive but meat lovers will know and will be willing to pay, Yes for the money you spend on grass fed beef you can get alot more of the other beef but the taste or texture won't be there. So you have to hid the lack of flavor by adding sauces and artificially tenderize the beef. The food business now is how can the company increase the bottom line while making food that taste good. We hear alot about standardization, but are they really looking at the customer or are they trying to improve efficiency. Do they really care what we eat or just looking at the dollar sign. If you ask anyone of a good restaurant, many will point to family owned business that have been around for decades? Why, people know good food when they taste it. They often compare it with their grandmas. Everything is made from scratch, lots of labor is used, they still make a profit, lines out the door, customers with a smile. Do we really feel the same way with corporate run food businesses. Kind of funny that these same corporate guys have so much money to spend on their businesses, that they invest in improving appearances of the stores. What! Some of the best eating establishments are holes in the wall.!!! That's a fact Jack. So the economy is lagging, restaurants raising prices and owners wonder where's the business. If I was a customer, why would I want to pay so and so for an artificial flavored dish that unhealthy, some would but most would say I'll cook something small at home at a fraction of the cost. |
