Chef Woo Can Restaurant Review/Bacco Italian Restaurant, Abingdon, MD
Yesterday, I met a friend that I haven't seen in person for 1 year due to the Covid-19 and we decided to have dinner and mentioned Bacco Italian restaurant right opposite the former JCPenny, a single standing building near Wegman's in Abingdon. Due to precautionary measures we reserved a table outside under the awning. To be honest I didn't know what to expect. As a New Yorker born and raised with the best Italian food, my expectations for Maryland, Harford County, Bel Air were not really high in terms of delicious Italian food. It was a beautiful evening, temps were comfortable and met my friend. Obviously, the first thing that comes to mind is the place is very clean and it was really good to see my friend. Waitress greeted us very professionally and that was definitely a great thing. It sets the mood of the evening. The menu was very interesting and the descriptive wording made me feel like I was in Italy. I noticed Octopus on the appetizer side. Grilled Octopus? Wow, and a mixture of chick peas and olive side. I said to myself if they can cook Octopus without it being rubbery, then they got my recommendation. Octopus must be so tender, not overdone or under done, must be perfect. I ordered it and cut my first piece, it cut perfectly and after I added fresh lemon juice, the taste of lemon and a little bit of the grill flavor was absolutely excellent! The chick pea and olive mixture that accompanied the Octopus was balance and only enhanced the Octopus. The rolls were fresh and piping hot with a balsamic olive oil for dipping was tremendous. Nothing special but simple. The Caesar salad was balanced, not overly with heavy cream dressing with freshly crispy croutons and shaved slices of parmesan cheese topping the salad. The main course was Vitello Saltimbocca which was piping hot veal scaloppini, prosciutto, mozzarella, fresh sage , marsala wine sauce, roasted garlic mash potatoes and broccolini. was simply fabulous, the veal was so tender and the marsala sauce paired well with the sage, prosciutto. I actually felt like I was in Italy. You can have excellent Italian food in Abingdon, MD. Everyone of the patrons wore their masks when entering and leaving the establishment, social distancing was apparent but didn't ruin the restaurant atmosphere we all yearn to return to. The beauty of this restaurant is a limited menu. If what I had last night is a reflection of other dishes that were well made, I coming back again. On Chef Woo Can's 1-10 scale and 10 being excellent, I give Bacco's Italian restaurant a "100". It was that good. Good service, good food, what more can you ask for. Please visit them, they need our support. They offer lunch too! www.chefwoocan.com #baccoitalianrestaurantabingdon, #excellentitalianfood, #whygotoitaly, #deliciousitalianfoodinharfordcounty.
