While on vacation at the Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos, PA, we decided to go to a Japanese Restaurant called Desaki's in Stillwater, PA, minutes from our resort. I didn't know what to expect but boy was I glad I visited this fabulous place. From the outside it looks like a typical single standing restaurant, well kept and the entrance we were greeted with an authentic rickshaw.
Walked inside and was greeted by the hostess with a smile welcoming us to Desaki's. We choose the Hibachi grill. There was a beautiful view outside and we actually saw deers. The first thing I noticed was the huge ventilation system above the cooking area. These ventilation systems must be powerful enough to suck up the smoke and smells from cooking the food. I have to say the fan system was impeccably clean. A sign that management is well aware of cleanliness. Case in point, my wife and daughter came back from the lades room and it was impeccably clean. The staff was friendly and the chef's were equally funny and entertaining. The menu selection was impressive. I decided to try the shrimp wrapped in bacon and it was delicious. The shrimp wasn't overcooked. The soup was fresh and delicious. Not too salty and not to bland. I choose for my an course the saltwater scallops, of course the hibachi meal came with home made fried rice, noodles, and a vegetable medley of zuchini, mushrooms, carrots, broccoli and onions. Great Value. Sometimes Hibachi places that I've been to the tables are greasy and there is a stench of oily grease in the air. Not the case with Desaki's. Well worth the drive, good value, fresh food and lots of style. Food was prepared perfectly, not too salty, a nice even split of flavor. For you love birds, its a place to have a romantic dinner! RATING: Excellent, highly recommended 5 stars! out of 5 stars. His intro into Caribbean food drew so much attentions that he has a geat following of customers. Soon, his brand name became so popular and his popularity grew, his problem believe it or not was that he couldn't handle all the customers. So he purchased a single sanding restaurant that needed extensive renovations and now he expanded his operation to accommodate the masses. His new building is brand spanking new. New floor tiles, plenty of seating without feeling cramped. Nice layout and food warming display is spotless and clean. A nice place to bring your family and enjoy Caribbean, Spanish and American Cuisine.
Ray knows what the customers want and he's on track to be one of the most innovative entrepreneurs in Harford County, MD. Give him a shout out and taste his food and tell him Chef Woo can highly recommended Ray's. To all Marylanders in Harford County. Looking to stimulate your palate with some authentic Caribbean food? I went to this place, now its my favorite called Ray's Caribbean American food. If you check out my food blog under www.chefwoocan.com, read about Ray's. I like it sooo much I went back. This time I ordered the meat patties, 1 spicy beef and 1 chicken patty. The mere weight of 2 patties tells you that Ray doesn't skimp on ingredients, no fillers and real beef.
My favorite dish is curry goat. Ok don't get screamish but the meat was so tender and as many foodies know, meat with the bone has more flavor. The sauce was just perfect spicy. The lunch special included rice and beans and sweet plantains and cooked cabbage. A great lunch value!, so again I must give Ray's Caribbean American Restaurant an A++++ rating, I highly recommend his place. he's located in Aberdeen, MD in Harford County off Route 40. eating his dishes makes me feel like I'm in the Caribbean. I forgot to mention tat he also has a Spanish menu along with an American menu. My buddy had told me about a Spanish Caribbean American restaurant that started in a shared space with huge liquor store in Edgewood. When word got out about Spanish and Caribbean food, the place was packed with lines out the door. He was so busy, he needed to expand so he opened a new place with seating for 50. Brand spanking new. Very clean, no musty odor, squeaky clean. I felt very comfortable. The place is off of South Philadelphia Blvd. It's a single standing restaurant. He has extended the outside for those nice evening to eat outside. The minute I walked in, on the counter was Jamaican meat patties, I decided to try the spicy beef one. It was home made and very spicy. I saw in the enclose window show cse, curry goat and oxtail. Both favorites of mine. I decided on oxtail. I got a generous portion with cooked cabbage on the side along with delicious plantains and rice and beans. Talk about value, you get it at Ray's. Very comfortable setting. My meal was reasonably priced considering that oxtil prices have gone thru the ceiling. If you love Spanish and Caribbean food, I would definitely try it. The American menu is chicken wings, tenders, shrimp and Lake trout to name a few. Spanish menu is tacos, fajitas, Chiccharron, Peruvian Rotisserie hicken, Pupusa and Quesidilla. If you live in Harford County and looking for something different and exotic, you have to try Ray's Caribbean Food. RECOMMENDATION: Highly delicious! Anti-inflammatories Arguably, the most powerful aspect of curcumin is its ability to control inflammation. The journal Oncogene published the results of a study that evaluated several anti-inflammatory compounds and found that aspirin and ibuprofen are least effective, while curcumin, is among the most effective anti-inflammatory compounds in the world. This news should have reached every household in the world after the study was conducted because inflammation puts people at risk for almost every disease process known to man. Diseases today such as cancer, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, high cholesterol and chronic pain can be the result of inflammation. As you will see, Turmeric’s key to disease reversal may be its ability to keep inflammation at bay. I look at Tumeric as a spice used in curries, dry rubs. I also buy a bottle of pure tumeric to help with aches and pains as a inflammatory remedy. Consult your doctor before you try it. |
