My buddy had told me about a Spanish Caribbean American restaurant that started in a shared space with huge liquor store in Edgewood. When word got out about Spanish and Caribbean food, the place was packed with lines out the door. He was so busy, he needed to expand so he opened a new place with seating for 50. Brand spanking new. Very clean, no musty odor, squeaky clean. I felt very comfortable. The place is off of South Philadelphia Blvd. It's a single standing restaurant. He has extended the outside for those nice evening to eat outside. The minute I walked in, on the counter was Jamaican meat patties, I decided to try the spicy beef one. It was home made and very spicy. I saw in the enclose window show cse, curry goat and oxtail. Both favorites of mine. I decided on oxtail. I got a generous portion with cooked cabbage on the side along with delicious plantains and rice and beans. Talk about value, you get it at Ray's. Very comfortable setting. My meal was reasonably priced considering that oxtil prices have gone thru the ceiling. If you love Spanish and Caribbean food, I would definitely try it. The American menu is chicken wings, tenders, shrimp and Lake trout to name a few. Spanish menu is tacos, fajitas, Chiccharron, Peruvian Rotisserie hicken, Pupusa and Quesidilla. If you live in Harford County and looking for something different and exotic, you have to try Ray's Caribbean Food. RECOMMENDATION: Highly delicious!
