Restaurant Critic & Food Blogger
Dear Mr. Rodriquez,
Let me introduce myself, my name is Chef Woo Can and I am a restaurant and food critic along with being a food blogger. Recently my family and I lodged at your facility in the Poconos, PA. I have to let you know that I was very impressed with the appearance, the accommodation and the activities. My daughter loves the water rides and she participated in the Magic Quest and she wants to go back again. After our stay, we did receive incentives to come back and we plan to. However, Mr. Rodriquez, I was very very disappointed in the eatery's you offer on premises. The Loose Moose buffet was terrible. It was limited in assortment of food, tasteless and overcooked meats and for the price, it was very disappointing. When I go on vacation and pay as much as we did to feel special as a guest of Great Wolf Lodge and spending at least 3 hours driving, my appetite must be satisfied. Not knowing what to expect, I was extremely disappointed. My question to you Mr. Rodriquez, did management ever eat there or did you have focus groups testing your food? And I am completely amazed that in our rooms, there is a directory offering the local food establishments, why would management do that. I would think that you would offer a one stop complete experience with activities and food service. If you offer good food, why would customers go out to eat. That's revenue that's being lost to the competition. Having eaten at the Loose Moose gave me a bad taste, and swore I would not return for dinner!. I checked the directory and choose a Japanese Restaurant called Desaki's, just 3 minutes down the road and it was excellent!. The next night we went to a seafood restaurant called Snuggler's Cove, just minutes from Great Wolf Lodge and it was delicious. It's not often that I write an open letter to the CEO of a well branded company but I need to express my frustration on how a company can carry a directory carry the competition for food. Your losing revenues and I'm talking one location, multiply by all your locations and you'll see real revenues being lost to the competition. As a restaurant and food critic, I can help your organization with common sense remedies, offer different cuisines that are both delicious and popular and you'll see improvements in the bottom line. Your company is allocating insufficient funds that are just putting food at the cheapest cost and try and tough. There are other organizations that present a beautiful buffet, and there are lines and customers have rave reviews!!!. Numbers are numbers but doesn't reflect the true testing which are what the customers like or enjoy eating. Mr Rodriquez, if I have enlightened you with my observations, feel free to call me at 410 638 9857 or email me at [email protected] for further discussions. In these tough economic times, don't take the customer for granted because the competition is always nearby. All they have to do is offer a great buffet meals and people will say "well this other place has everything Great Wolf Lodge has to offer in terms of activities but their buffet is delicious, tasty and a great assortment of food." Thank you for your time. Regards, Chef Woo Can (Stu Woo)
While my family and I were enjoying our stay at Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos, we were forced to search for alternative eating establishments near Great Wolf Lodge. Beyond my wildest dreams we did see a seafood restaurant called Snuggler's Cove just minutes from where we were staying.
In one word, I have to say it was "EXCELLENT" You may ask how can I come out with this great rating. Simple, they had fresh oysters on the half shell and believe it or not, they were so fresh and flavorful. For the Poconos, fres shucked oysters? It was excellent. The stuff shrimp was delicious and just enough. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. As you know shrimp that is overcooked can be chewy and this was not the case. The steamed clams were delicious and dipping the bread in the garlic butter lemon sauce was wonderful. If you like seafood as much as I do, you'll appreciate this restaurant, so keep them in mind this Summer. My buddy from financial services in NYC that I worked with had mentioned his wife worked there doing their books and she can backup my claims. I highly recommend this place and looking forward to going back again to Great Wolf Lodge for the activities but not their food. I'll be sending a letter to the CEO at Great Wolf Lodge expressing my disappointment. My rating on this restaurant: EXCELLENT. Order the steamed clams, fresh shucked oysters and stuffed shrimp with crabmeat I have to say when your looking for something different in terms of cuisines, I can't help but mention Ray Caribbean American Restaurant in Aberdeen, MD . I went there with my buddy last week to enjoy a relaxing lunchtime meal. The atmosphere is very relaxing and most importantly the staff is very friendly and helpful.
I love the meat patties! They are definitely homemade with mild beef, spicy beef and chicken patties. The mere weight of these patties are filled with all natural beef and chicken. The outside is so flaky and crunchy and when you try the spicy beef, make sure you bring enough napkins to absorb the tears! Again I can't stop raving about the deliciously sweet plantains, made perfectly. Very sweet and tender. Today I tried the Brown stewed chicken. I had the lunch meal with the homemade cabbage and white rice. The gravy was delectable mixed in with the rice. There's a sweetness to the gravy from coconut. The chicken was tender and well marinated and you get an ample portion of both breast meat and dark meat and of course the chicken is served with the bones to captivate the chicken flavor. Moist and tender is key here! Ray (owner) does have an assortment of beverages but it would be better from a visibility standpoint if he showed the bottles on the serving counter. I had to ask about what was being offered and when I asked about ginger ale, the server had mentioned "Ginger Beer," if you love strong ginger flavor with a punch of sweetness, you'll appreciate this beverage. My view is that there are so many items that could be sold for future consumption like a 6 pack. Brings in additional revenue! My buddy, forgot about him is very chosey about his food but when he came with me twice, most recently he ordered the fried catfish. His eyes opened wide open when he saw the portion. 3 large catfish fillet with a huge order of french fries. And the other time he ordered the chicken tenders and was very happy about the portion and value. I think next time I will try the Spanish food and I know I won't be disappointed. Ray is very proud of his food. You can tell by how he speaks about his passion of his family dishes that he learned from his family in Trinidad. He doesn't wan to compromise on flavor which is understandable and lead to a great following and branding his business has taken him a long way!. He will continue to work for you and make the BEST Caribbean food in Harford County! RATING: Brown Chicken Stew: EXCELLENT RATING: Atmossphere: Comfortable and Cozy: EXCELLENT If you haven't visited his establishment, you will miss a delicious Caribbean Cuisine in Harford County, MD (Off of Rte 40 in Aberdeen.
