As Chef Woo Can conducts his cooking classes, the overall response from his students is that they would like the recipes of the dishes made.
Well, he has them on the recipe tab of his website. Any questions, just email us at [email protected] There are 2 words that describe the aroma created by stir frying. What are they? Let Chef Woo Can know..
If your like me, you probably love the cooking shows, but to be honest its becoming to commercialized. Every celebrity on the show has a cookbook published. Now when I go to the bookstore, the majority of the rack is filled with these commercialized cookbooks. Each cookbook has beautiful pictures of the dish so perfect.
They use ingredients that may not be readily available in our local supermarket just for the sake of keeping the dish authentic. Now don't get me wrong, I love authentic but I have to travel a ways to get authentic ingredients but that's me. Every show seems like its a contest, I feel cooking should be relaxing. why be competitive, just more stress and pressure. I'm sure it does rub off on us viewing the program. We're nervous, don't know where to start, reading instructions while food is cooking, and even more stress hoping that the dish will turn out like the picture in the cookbook. What the heck! Just seeing the final dish? How about the aroma and taste!!!!!! My goal of having cooking classes being hosted by someone, creates a relaxed atmosphere, no stress, enjoy the company, appreciate the aroma, the dish is inviting and the taste is delicious. Cooking uses the 3 senses, is there any other way! Before I forget, the food selection tab has been corrected. Now its rasier to read. So, if you live in Maryland, Chef Woo Can teach you how to stir fry and he knows YOU CAN TOO! What a way to get a cup of tea in Thailand! Tea anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!
And you thought all you had to do was boil water and open a box of noodles! Here is the authentic way of making Chinese noodles back in the day.
Dim Sum is our version of brunch but the difference is small dishes consisting of a various selection of meat, seafood and vegetable dumplings, fried dumplings, steamed buns with meat inside, mini marinated spareribs with black beans, roast duck, roast pork, an assortment of baked goods both sweet and salty, dessert like coconut custard.
The whole set up is like an assortment of Spanish tapas on a cart being pushed by ladies passing tables with hopes they can sell as many as possible. The video that you'll see is the making of Sui Mai, a pork/shrimp dumpling. It's simply delicious with a touch of soy sauce added to enhance the flavor, For all Marylanders, if your a adventurous eater willing to try different foods and believe what I eat is ok for you to eat, then I want you to join me at an authentic Dim Sum restaurant called Chop Sticks in Rosedale. They serve dim sum all week from 11-3 pm and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, its jammed backed with dim sum lovers! YUMMY! This dish is one of my favorites. Savory, crispy, hint of spicy, salty and garlicky. It's delicious. Just talking about makes my mouth water. It's fabulous. I'll include this dish in the food plan.
Check this video out. Everything fried is always good in moderation. YUMMY Chef Woo Can knows what everyone will say when duck is mentioned. Oily and fatty, but in French cuisine they cook duck leg in duck fat as in duck confit. How is that acceptable but Chinese style its sort of shunned.
If I have the pleasure demonstrating a cooking class at your home, I will bring a roast duck so you can try some and find out how delicious it truly is. Watch this video on how its prepared. It just makes my mouth water. It's tender, juicy, flavorful and crispy. The heck with duck a la orange. Add a little duck sauce and viola! Host 5 Chef Woo Can Asian Cooking Class and receive a $100 gift certificate. Pretty simple and a great way to earn a gift certificate. We are in Maryland right now!
If you saw the video on my blog of the ultimate Stir frying, think of what Chef Woo Can do for you demonstrating a cooking class for your friends and family in the convenience of your home.
Ok, there won't be high flames used like in the restaurant but there are similar stir frying technique used. There is a word that Chinese chefs used when they use high heat which creates a marvelous aroma. That word is "WOK HAY." Chef Woo Can guarantee that on your next visit to a Chinese restaurant, ask the waiter about the word when your dish is being prepared, he'll be so impressed! Send me an email at [email protected] and let me know how it went. (If you do a surprise is waiting for you if you decide to host a class). Come on Marylanders, Chef Woo can demonstrate wonders with seafood like Maryland Crabs with ginger and scallion, hmmmmmm, shrimp, clams, mussels, lobster etc,,,,,,, with a nice healthy vegetable dish and aromatic jasmine rice. Chef Woo Can is in heaven, yummy! Get your friends and experience the WOK HAY, you'll be glad you did! . |
