VIETNAMES FOOD/SIMPLE LIGHT REFRESHING FLAVORS!
Well, Spring time is just around the corner and those hot days will be coming soon with the temperature hitting 70's. Hmm, what are the Spring and Summer foods, yes the typical salad with Romaine or iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions or chick peas and egg. Sandwiches, pizza slices, subs with tuna, ham and the works. Sound familiar! Well, Chef Woo Can will be introducing to you palate the tastes of Vietnam. The sub tropic country where its hot and humid all year round will introduce new exciting flavors involving cilantro, mint and basil. Rice paper is used to make the Vietnamese summer rolls which aren't even fried, I can guarantee the taste will be refreshing, light and simply delicious. Right now as the cold weather is still here, the Vietnamese Pho, a beef soup with bean sprouts, Thai basil, brisket, rice noodles and a slice of lime and jalepeno papers. Although hot, the flavor is both healthy, unique flavor and refreshing. Pho is served in a rather large bowl to give you room for all the goodies. So, if your looking for different flavors, stay in touch with many new Vietnamese dishes, so easy to make and the flavors will be bursting with flavor. White Marsh, MD Before I start my review, this place is an exclusive bar for the younger crowd that has all sorts of beers, liquors and fun drinks. The atmosphere is very modern with lots of small bar tables all around. Their specialty is drinks all kinds of drinks, great place to go after work, bring a date or just hang with your friends. Ok, got that out of the way. Well, if having a drink at lunch time, and your hungry for a bite to eat, honestly this is not the place to have a nice meal. They specialize in finger foods. So, if your starving and looking for a twist in the traditional fare, this is the place to be. BUT for me, I'll skip this place. Why you say? Well a couple of weeks ago I went for drinks with my coworkers. I had a bee and soon developed the munchies. I ordered French fries expecting a platter of French fries. Instead I got a cup of thin fries. That cup of fries lasted less than 5 minutes. Today a couple of us went to this place for lunch. I played it conservative and ordered the French onion soup and a turkey club. The soup was ok nothing to boast about. When I received the turkey club, it was a sandwich but cut in half and placed on top of each other. Yes I did get turkey slices oops I mean chunks of turkey, not the turkey slices from turkey breast. A slather of guacamole, apple bacon strips that were soggy and a slice of tomato. Now the sandwich was so big, I had to try to eat each layer, there was sooo much turkey pieces, couldn't eat it all. I have to say I wasn't a happy camper, there was no flavor to my turkey sandwich and the French onion soup probably came from a can and broiled a slice of cheese on top. Different isn't the word to describe the food, it was no taste, no value not an eating establishment at all. On a scale of 1-5 and 5 being the best, I give this place for the food only a "1" By Chef Woo Can at www.chefwoocan.com #Barlouiereview |
