There definitely is a difference. A far majority of American restaurants including fast food, fast food family and establishments microwave most of their food to get it bubbling hot and cut cooking time in half The remainder of other American products are fried and heavenly seasoned. But the sad thing is these establishments are at the mercy of suppliers who receive the latest technological concoctions. Case in point, a supplier delivers tomato sauce for Italian inspired dishes and pizza to all the Italian restaurant and pizza chains. They all taste the same and the only difference is what toppings they put on the food that may change the taste slightly.
Wouldn't it be nice to have fresh Italian garlic bread with real butter and fresh garlic and a little olive oil for dipping?
We've been so trained to accept Domino's & Papa John's pizza. Don't get me wrong, their good in terms of availability but still a product of standardization.
I ordered a pizza with friends that was a non franchised business. The crust was crunchy and the cheese was really Mozzarella and lots of oil floating on top with slices of real sausage. it was delicious but I was told it was too oily. I said the oil is where all the taste is> I got blank stares. They still wanted a napkin to absorb the oil?
Asian food for the most part is all fresh except for some fried items but generally fresh. Why? Asian people (and its cultural) love only fresh food. Freshness is key. They shop everyday to buy fresh produce. But when they eventually eat, they are all so happy. It's appetizing, aromatic and visually appealing. No preservatives or additives because the food is all fresh.
