Pappas Restaurant and Sports Bar
550 Cranbrook Rd, Cockeysville, MD Well, I finally had lunch at Pappas! My friends have told me they have the best crab cakes in MD. Now, I've been to Timbuktu. G & M and Jimmies, so that was a tall order when I was told they have the best crab cakes. The Cranbrook location is fairly new about 3-4 years at that location but Pappas has been a mainstay in Maryland for a very long time. They follow all successful restaurants by changing nothing to their signature dish "Crab Cakes? and no wonder, they are great! When you walk inside you step into the sports bar but we made our way to the tables.. I have to say I I was very excited to try their famous crab cakes. The atmosphere was contemporary for a sports bar but was very clean. I looked at the menu and it was easy to read. Now, I ordered the spinach with cheese spanakopita, the cream of crab and the double crab cake. It's is a relaxed atmosphere and our waiter was very courteous and professional. Very appealing and relaxed. The appetizer came and there was the spinanch and cheese spanakopita on one ide of the platter and on the other side was antipasto (olives, tomatoes, feta cheese, sliced peppers and red onions with a nice dressing). I nice addition and I wasn't expecting it. The cream of crab ws good, not to think and not to watery, perfect. The amount of lump crab meat, it could have had some more. But seasoned perfectly. Now, the double crab cake came. Presentation was perfect with French fries and fresh coleslaw. The minute I dug into the crab meat, there were oodles of lump crab, barely any filling and well seasoned but not over bearing with Ole Bay. perfect!. Perfect sized crab cakes and as I went through each one, just jumbo lump crab meat throughout the crab cake. This is the first time I hardly used tartar sauce. I could appreciate the natural flavor of the crab. I have to say this was a perfect lunch and I will definitely come back again. Sorry G & M, Timbuktu and Jimmies. You way to fr away. Pappas is a national crab cake institution in Cockeysville. On a scale of 1-5 with 5 being excellent, I give my rating of 5 to Pappas without a doubt. I recommend this place and I will be going back for more. By Chef Woo Can at www.chefwoocan.com #chefwoocanlovespappas, #thebestcrabcakeincockeysville, #chefwoocansaysyougottagotopappas |
