Island Spice Jamaican Restaurant
2120 Emmorton Park Rd Edgewood, MD This might be a first. I went back to this restaurant for dinner. I had a fabulous lunch last Saturday. I was so impressed I wanted to try the dinner. After a tough day at work, all I wanted was to relax in a nice cozy restaurant and have a nice smile from the staff. For dinner, I had the 2 Jamaican meat patties. A little disappointed from last time, not flaky this time. The flavor was still there but the texture was not flaky. I reviewed the dinner menu. There was more of a selection that included curry goat, roti specials and a nice selection for dinner. I saw the shrimp coconut curry. Never had it before. I always believe to always try new dishes. Well, the dish came out, the shrimp was medium in size but I truly believe I received a good portion of shrimp, just enough to make the meal filling. The curry coconut sauce was just delicious, not to coconutty , just perfect. My palate detected a balance of coconut flavor and a slightly spicy curry sauce. Along with that was the rice and peas, sautéed cabbage, and a nice piece of plantain. There's nothing like spreading the rice over the sauce. It was that delicious. The shrimp was gently tossed with flour to seal the moisture of the shrimp but definitely scrumptious. For that hour and a 1/2 with my friend, I felt I was in Jamaica, the Jamaican tunes in the background, very nice. I highly recommend this place and have an appreciation of Carribbean food. Got to go back and try the Ox tail stew. Go and try this place, You'll be glad you did! Chef Woo Can at www.chefwoocan.com |
