Portland Lobster Company
Portland Maine Well, let me start off, Chef Woo Can and family planned a vacation in Maine. I decided why not make it a eating seafood vacation with the prize of eating delicious Maine Lobster. The Portland Lobster Company was the first restaurant we visited. It was sitting dockside on the bay. Sitting and a live band were on the pier pretty festive occasion and everyone was drinking micro brewery beer and eating seafood. It was a perfect evening, no humidity and a nice breeze. Chef Woo loves Maine LObster. Why? It's the sweetest flavored meat aming all other lobsters. Why? The water is cold and cold water makes for sweeter meat. After a long trip, I was ready to feat. I had the lobster stew, a take from oyster stew with potatoes and chunks of low claw meat. Creamy, not too think but so unbelievably tasty. Then we had the fried clams. Very disappointed. Fried clams in New England are the soft bellied clams not like the clam strips we get South. It's difficult to handle because the soft bellies are very delicate, so when fried you miss the taste of the belly. A lobster dinner includes an ear of corn and an Idaho potato with all the fixings. Aaah the lobster, steamed to perfection. It was 1 1/4 lb, perfect, cooked for 7 and change minutes, so tender and sweet. The perfect size since the shell could be broken with your hands. It was a oft shell lobster and to some, more flavorful. Dipping the chunks of the claws in the drawn butter felt like I was in heaven. The tail meat was not tough or overcooked and that drawn butter, hmmm hmmm good.Baked potato with all the fixings of sour cream and butter and the ear of corn slathered with butter made for a fulfilling delicious meal. Add some live music and local draft beer. and Chef Woo Can was floating. So, on a scale of 1-5 and 5 being the best. I have to give this place a 5,000+. Except for the fried clams everything went smoothly from being seated to having the food prepared on time. I highly recommend this place for all you seafood lovers that appreciate fresh seafood. And as for value, it was a bargain., so fly out to Portland and have MAINE lobster.. I offer to you my opinion and advice on eating establishments. You guys work heard and you deserve a break. Eating healthy has been difficult. Finding a place that offers good healthy and nutritious food is a rarity. I try my very best to offer places that I dine at and sometimes, its successful and sometimes not. This blog has to do with bottled water? Yes, its convenient, easy to carry and always accessible. But why are we buying bottled water. Back in the day, bottled water was non-existent. But today the water quality from our tap water to some is fair at best. I hear a funny taste, gross and such but what I can tell you despite everything else, our tap water has fluoride. Yep, fluoride like in the dentist office which as you know helps prevents cavities. Depending on the bottle water you buy, it should be pure spring water so they say. Companies are popping up competing with the major water brands fighting for market share. I',m here to tell you that continuous use of only bottle water may result in more cavities. Plus, with all the press saying that bottle water has micro pieces of plastic that we ingest into our bodies is doing more harm than just hydrating us. So, Chef Woo Can says use the tap water and get one of those water disposable water filters and hydrate yourself. Plus companies are converting to aluminum container. Right now the sparkling water offers that as an alternative. Remember, everything in moderation is ok. Centerville, PA Every now and then you come across a restaurant that you would never expect to find. My family and I had gone to see the Turkey Hill Ice Cream Factory Tours near Lancaster, PA. This restaurant was a well like restaurant for patrons that love Vietnamese food especially Pho. But like I had mentioned before, Vietnamese restaurants are sprouting all over the place. Chine business owners are opening them, Korean owners are opening them So, what is the true Pho taste. Well, to the regular customer, how would they know? They wouldn't, so its a crap shoot. Well, I could tell this is a Vietnamese restaurant because as they spoke it was truly Vietnamese. The waiter like most didn't greet us nor did he speak one word to acknowledge our existence. Now, typically I would leave but it was the weekend with my family and we were hungry. The menu was interesting, hmmm Pho on a hot Summer day not that day. I choose the rice noodles mixed with salad with peppers, red onions, mint, cilantro with a fish sauce dressing. Roast pork, shrimp patty and a Vietnamese crispy egg roll. The amount of food was above and beyond my dreams. It was both delicious and flavorful. There was so much, I actually wasn't able to finish it. But it was delicious. As for the personality of our waiter, I can't hold it against him. My wife ordered the beef Pho and she liked it. My daughter had the adult version of the beef Pho and it was more than enough. On a scale of 1-5, I give this place a 5 but for professionalism a 1. I highly recommend this place if your near Hershey or Turkey Hill By Chef Woo Can at www.chefwoocan.com #Phopasteur3 is delicious, #chefwoocansaysyestophopasteur3, |
